Low histamine butternut squash soup

Butternut squash is a very versatile ingredient. You can make purees, mix it with pasta, make a quiche or a casserole…The only downside of butternut squash is that it’s hard to peel and to cut into. But once you made it past those prep steps, it’s all goodness. In this article, I will show you how to make a butternut squash soup following the low histamine diet guidelines.

Kale, Carrot and Apple low histamine smoothie

Ingredients

  • 7 fl oz water
  • 1 cup chopped kale
  • 2 carrots
  • 1 apple
  • 1/2 inch fresh ginger

Instructions

  1. Remove kale stems and chop.

  2. Slice the apples, carrots and ginger into blender friendly pieces.

  3. Place ingredients into the blender starting with kale, then carrots, then apple, ginger and then water.

  4. Puree until smooth, about a minute or so.

 

Benefits/Side notes :

Butternut squash is anti-histamine and anti-inflammatory.

Carrot is low histamine and antioxidant.

Olive oil contains large amounts of antioxidants, is anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer.

Shallots :  highly anti-inflammatory

Onions :  anti-histamine and anti-inflammatory

Turmeric : powerful anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant properties

Ginger : antihistamine, nausea inhibitor and anti-inflammatory.

Apple rich in quercetin (antihistamine and mast cells stabilizer ) and luteolin, antioxidants.

Coconut milk is dairy/lactose free.
